Itinerary

Day 0

Arrival in Nkob (accessible with CTM bus), dinner and overnight stay included

Day 1

After breakfast transfer (about 1 hour) to the Hendour Valley, which we cross, we see small villages and walk along the river. Lunch on the way, then we hike on to the ‘Amazon Valley’ where we spend the night with a family (tent or in a house).

Day 2

Today we start towards Tiblah along the next valley, stop for lunch with a nomadic family and then hike on to Igli, where we reach the highest point of our tour (1850m). Here we spend the night in the camp or in the rooms if the weather does not agree.

Day 3

We set off through the Boualouz valley towards Bab’n’Ali, the highlight of the region. We have lunch in a narrow gorge, visit the Akhbach waterfall (if it has rained) and reach Bab’n’Ali in the early afternoon. Shortly afterwards, we reach the road where our transport to Nkob is already waiting for us. After a shower in the riad, we can visit the camp for sunset, dinner and overnight stay in the riad included.

Frequently asked questions

How fit do I have to be?

This hike requires a good level of everyday fitness, as it follows well-maintained paths through the valleys. The hike takes 3-4 hours per day with 1 or 2 breaks.

What will the temperatures be like?

In times of climate change, this question is difficult to answer. Generally speaking, it is cool up in the mountains, even when it is 30 degrees in Nkob.

What kind of equipment do I need?

In general, we recommend good hiking boots, hiking poles (great for reducing swelling in the hands), long-sleeved/long-legged lightweight clothing with a few warm layers and sun protection.

What kind of people hike with BAT?

Our hikes attract active and adventurous people of all ages. People who enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind a basic level of comfort.

What happens after I book?

To confirm your booking, we require your full name, a few other infos and a deposit of 25% of the total trip price. The remaining balance is due 1 month before the trip.

Can I extend my trip?

Yes! We can design an extension that suits your travel style and budget.

Do I need insurance?

We strongly recommend that you take out at least good travel health insurance. Not just for our trip, but for all trips in Morocco and around the world. Make sure that it covers repatriation to your home country in the event of serious problems so that you can be treated at home.

Also consider taking out travel cancellation insurance in case you fall ill or are injured immediately before your trip and have to cancel.

What about snakes and scorpions?

Snakes and scorpions are very rare and mainly active during the summer months. Nevertheless, it is advisable to always wear shoes (or at least flip-flops). And be careful when lifting stones, as scorpions may be hiding underneath them.

Where/how do we go to the toilet?

We don’t bring a toilet with us on our hikes, so you’ll have to use the big toilet. Small business is easy, you just hide behind a dune or a bush. For big business, you first dig a hole and then cover it with soil or stones. We collect all toilet paper in plastic bags so that we can dispose of it properly when we return to the city.
