For simple standard 3-day trips to Merzouga, please send us an email/WhatsApp message with your desired date, and we will get back to you with availability and pricing information.
For our desert hikes, please send us an email or WhatsApp so that we can coordinate dates and details.
For individual round trips or road trip planning, please fill out the questionnaire and schedule a phone call/Teams meeting with me.
To confirm your booking, we require your full name and a deposit of 25% of the total trip price. The remaining payment is due 1 month before the trip.
During camel trekking, you will sleep in tents, and during our desert hikes, you will sleep in simple guesthouses.
For round trips, you can determine the level of luxury/budget yourself. However, it is generally advisable to book smaller riads and hotels in Morocco. They are often beautifully furnished in a traditional style, serve delicious food and, in typical Moroccan fashion, place great emphasis on hospitality. We usually choose a mixture of both for you.
This varies greatly and depends on the type of trip you book with us.
Our hiking and camel trekking tours include tents, mattresses, meals, a guide, a cook, camels for luggage and, if applicable, travel to and from Marrakesh or Errachidia.
On round trips, accommodation, breakfast, dinner (on route only), a car with driver and, if applicable, activities are included.
Not included are flights, insurance, drinks (except water and tea with meals), tips, sleeping bags (camel trekking).
In principle, yes. However, trips for just one person are relatively expensive. If you wish, we can advertise the trip as a group trip after you have made your booking, and if we find other travellers, it will be cheaper per person. We will then adjust the remaining amount or refund the difference.
If other people have booked and are looking for other travellers to join, you can find these tours as group tours on our website.
Yes, our trips are child-friendly!
Round trips are suitable for all age groups, but there are almost no child seats in cars in Morocco, so you may need to bring your own.
The shorter hikes are suitable for children aged 8 and above, and the camel trekking tours are suitable for children aged 10 and above. If they have a lot of hiking experience, we can also take younger children.
And for all younger children and their families, we can create a tailor-made programme in the desert.
In times of climate change, this question is difficult to answer. We hope for daytime temperatures between 25-30°C in October and March, 20-25 in November and February, and 15-20 in December and January. Nighttime temperatures can drop close to freezing in the winter months. In summer, i.e. from mid-May to mid-September, temperatures can exceed 40 degrees throughout the country. There are frequent heat waves, which also affect the mountains and coastal regions. In the Atlas Mountains, there can be thunderstorms and strong winds.
Theoretically, you can wear whatever you want in Morocco. It is not forbidden to walk around in shorts and a tank top. But it is not appropriate. We recommend wearing at least T-shirts, but even better long-sleeved shirts or blouses, not least because of the strong sunlight. And long trousers or wide long skirts.
You don’t have to cover your hair, but a baseball cap or sun hat will help you keep a cool head and avoid sunstroke.
For our camel trekking tours, we will send you a packing list after booking.
In the hotels and on hiking and trekking tours you will be served mostly traditional Moroccan food, i.e. lots of tagines and couscous. In Marrakesh and Essaouira, you can also find international restaurants. We will be happy to send you a list of restaurant recommendations after you book.
On our camel trekking tours, meat is served on the first evening, followed by mostly vegetarian food with occasional canned fish. It is not possible to transport meat safely in the high temperatures.
If you are vegetarian or vegan, just let us know, it’s no problem at all.
What we cannot offer is completely gluten-free cuisine (for coeliac disease). Morocco is simply too bread-heavy for that, and we cannot expect the crew not to prepare and eat bread. Low-gluten is possible, but you may need to bring a packet of gluten-free pasta and/or bread with you. We can bake cornbread and otherwise serve rice and potatoes.
We do not offer quad bike or buggy tours, as these destroy the unique ecosystem of the sand dunes and are the reason why desert foxes are no longer seen. The dunes are a complex ecosystem with many plants and animals and are not an amusement park like Disney World.
In addition, quads and buggies stir up an incredible amount of fine dust, and more and more children in Merzouga are developing respiratory problems such as asthma. They also cause a great deal of noise pollution for the locals.
Since Eva moved to Merzouga (early 2019), the number of quad bike providers has risen from 2-3 to well over 50, and each rental company now has 10-20 quad bikes. That is simply too many for this small area!
We strongly recommend that you take out at least good travel health insurance. Not just for this trip, but for all trips in Morocco and around the world. Make sure that it covers repatriation to your home country in the event of serious issues so that you can be treated at home.
You should also consider taking out travel cancellation insurance in case you get sick or are injured immediately before your trip and have to cancel.
That depends on the country you come from. Most European countries and the USA have a 90-day visa exemption. This means you will only receive a stamp upon arrival and departure.
Snakes and scorpions are very rare and mainly active during the summer months. Nevertheless, it is advisable to always wear shoes (or at least flip-flops) when walking on sand. And be careful when lifting stones, as scorpions may be hiding underneath them. It is very unlikely to see snakes or scorpions in cities or hotels.
You can find our cancellation policy in detail in our booking conditions.
In summary, we charge a fee for every cancellation made by a guest to cover the work and costs we have already incurred (e.g. hotel deposits). Depending on the type of tour and the time of cancellation, this fee ranges from €200 to the total price of the tour.
If we have to cancel, we will, of course, refund the total price.
For our level 2 and 2-3 hikes, you should generally be an active person. The terrain varies between sand, rocky plains and some smaller mountains. We will hike between 3-6 hours per day with 1 or 2 breaks.
Good fitness is required for the camel trekking tours. The daily stages are between 4-8 hours with 1-2 breaks.
It also requires a certain amount of mental strength to be out of reach for long periods of time with limited resources.
For camel trekking tours, we will send you a detailed packing list after booking. In general, however, we recommend good hiking boots, a sleeping bag, hiking poles (good for reducing swelling in the hands), long-sleeved/long-legged lightweight clothing and sunscreen. For short tours, only good shoes and sunscreen are necessary.
Depending on which tour you have booked, you will either be picked up in Marrakesh or you will have to make your own way to Merzouga or Zagora. There are several options for this. The Supratours bus runs from Marrakech to Zagora and Merzouga and from Fes to Merzouga. CTM runs from Marrakech to Zagora. Ryanair flies several times a week from Marrakech to Errachidia, and RAM offers a daily flight from Casablanca to Errachidia. From there, you can continue by taxi or we can organise a transfer.
Yes, definitely. We will gladly send you a Google Pin for a place where you can park your car for the duration of the hike.
Our hikes attract active and adventurous people of all ages. People who enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind a basic level of comfort. The desert offers plenty of space, so our trips are also suitable for people who normally travel individually or alone, as there are plenty of opportunities to hike away from the others and enjoy the solitude.
To confirm your booking, we require your full name, a few other infos and a deposit of 25% of the total trip price. The remaining balance is due 1 month before the trip.
Yes! We can design an extension that suits your travel style and budget.

We don’t bring a toilet with us on our hikes, so you’ll have to use the big toilet. Small business is easy, you just hide behind a dune or a bush. For big business, you first dig a hole and then cover it with sand, soil or stones. We collect all toilet paper in plastic bags so that we can dispose of it properly when we return to the city.
In order to plan a round trip tailored to your wishes, we first need some information from you. Please fill out our questionnaire. Then book a consultation call in Calendly. We will then design your trip and, after a brief feedback loop, we will ask you to pay a 25% deposit before we make all the final bookings. The remaining amount is then due one month before the trip.
In your arrival and departure cities, you will be on your own, except for a guided city tour, if applicable. Once the tour begins, the driver will, of course, be with you. However, he will not accompany you into the cities or on hikes. The professions of driver and guide are clearly separated in Morocco. So if you want to have a guide with you at all times, we will have to book one separately, which is very expensive and not really necessary. The drivers speak good English and, of course, know a lot about their country and are happy to share their knowledge.
If you are a woman travelling alone, you can also book Eva as a travel companion.
All tours include a car with driver and hotels (with breakfast, and dinner while on the road). If you book activities through us, these are also included.
Not included are flights, insurance, lunch, dinner in the bigger cities, and any activities you prefer to book yourself.
The trips start and end wherever you want, whether it’s Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fez or even smaller towns like Essaouira or Meknes. We recommend letting us organise everything for you from the moment you arrive at the airport. That way, you don’t have to worry about your transfer to the hotel, and we can get better prices for hotels and activities, not to mention that we know lots of great insider tips. But of course, you can also organise parts of your trip yourself and only book certain parts with us, such as the trip to the desert.
