We, Eva and Hassan, started Berber Adventure Tours to show you the beautiful Moroccan desert that we call home. Over time, we have added hiking in the mountains and custom trips to our program.
If you would like to take an individual trip, somewhat off the beaten tourist track, then you have come to the right place.
We want you to experience the hospitality of the Berbers, the diversity of the Sahara (and the rest of Morocco), and, of course, the delicious food that we Moroccans are so proud of.

The combination of Hassan’s local knowledge and contacts throughout Morocco and Eva’s first-hand experience desert trekking and travelling throughout Morocco (and the fact that she is German, with a natural focus on punctuality, thoroughness, and follow-through) makes us your perfect choice!
We have a deep love for Morocco and the desert and a passion for travel planning – giving you the luxury of relaxing while we make your adventure dreams come true.
From planning the perfect route for you, to booking hotels, drivers, and guides, to providing camping equipment and all meals and drinks on our hiking tours, we take care of everything.
All you need to do is provide us with some information about your group, your planned length of stay, and your travel dates, and we’ll take care of the rest.
During the hiking trips, you will receive 3 meals per day, snacks, and, of course, round-the-clock guidance and support.
We see the effects of climate change and do our best to reduce our impact on it. We reduce plastic and take our waste and that of others out of the desert with us.
We also source everything we can locally and ensure that your money stays here where it is needed. We support a few local nomadic families and also some women in Merzouga, where we eat couscous with you, for example.
On our longer hikes, we use camels, not cars, to transport luggage, food, tents, etc. from camp to camp.
For the simple standard 3-day trips to Merzouga, you can send us an email with your desired date and we will get back to you.
For our desert hikes, please send us an email or WhatsApp message so that we can arrange the date and details.

To confirm your booking, we require your full name and a deposit of 25% of the total trip price. The remainder of the payment is due 1 month before the trip.
In times of climate change, this question is difficult to answer. We hope for daytime temperatures between 25-30°C in October and March, 20-25 in November and February, and 15-20 in December and January. Nighttime temperatures can drop close to freezing in the winter months. In summer, i.e. from mid-May to mid-September, temperatures can exceed 40 degrees throughout the country. There are frequent heat waves, which also affect the mountains and coastal regions. In the Atlas Mountains, there can be thunderstorms and strong winds.
On camel treks, you will sleep in tents, and during our desert hikes, you will sleep in simple guesthouses or a small tent in the dunes.
For custom trips, you can choose the level of luxury/budget yourself. However, it is generally advisable to book smaller riads and hotels in Morocco. They are often beautifully furnished in a traditional style, serve delicious food, and offer typical Moroccan hospitality. We usually choose a mixture of both.
Yes, definitely. However, the veggie food in hotels is often quite repetitive. Restaurants often only offer salad and vegetarian tagine.
This is not a problem on our hiking tours, where the cooking is more creative.
What we cannot guarantee is gluten-free food, as too much bread is baked and eaten in Morocco. There is often a lack of awareness about gluten-free food or nut allergies. On the hiking tours, we can cook/bake gluten-free food, but the “kitchen” is not gluten-free.
In principle, yes. However, trips for just one person are relatively expensive. If you wish, we can advertise the trip as a group trip after you have made your booking, and if we find other travelers, it will be cheaper per person. We will then adjust the remaining amount or refund the difference.
If other people have booked and are looking for other travellers to join, you can find these tours as group tours on our website.
We strongly recommend that you take out at least good travel health insurance. Not just for this trip, but for all trips in Morocco and around the world. Make sure that it covers repatriation to your home country in the event of serious issues so that you can be treated at home.
You should also consider taking out travel cancellation insurance in case you get sick or are injured immediately before your trip and have to cancel.
Snakes and scorpions are very rare and mainly active during the summer months. Nevertheless, it is advisable to always wear shoes (or at least flip-flops) when walking on sand. And be careful when lifting stones, as scorpions may be hiding underneath them. It is very unlikely to see snakes or scorpions in cities or hotels.
