General information

Group size

For our group tours, the minimum number of participants is 4.

Individual trips can be booked for a single person up to a maximum group size of 10. If your group is bigger than this, please get in touch anyways and we will see if we can work something out.

Best time of the year to go hiking

We offer our hikes in the Sahara from September 15th – April 30th. Just be aware that September and early October as well as April can be fairly hot during the day, above 30°C. If you want to book in these months, you need to be sure you can handle the heat.

In September and May we can put together shorter itineraries, please get in touch with us to inquire.

December and January can have cold nights with temperatures well below 10°C, so you will need a warm sleeping bag.

Meals

All meals are included. Vegetarian/vegan diet can be catered for if we know in advance, also let us know about any allergies before booking.

Fitness level

Required fitness level: You should be able to walk 5-8 hours through rough terrain, up and down mountains and through sand. Alternatively, you can book a riding camel at extra cost so you can ride for a few hours every day. But please be aware, there are passages, especially in the mountains, where you cannot ride due to safety of the camel and yourself.

Equipment

It is essential to bring comfortable shoes, I hike in hiking boots, but some people prefer sandals with socks. You need to bring your own sleeping bag. Luggage is limited to one backpack (or other soft luggage, no suitcases!) with max. 15 kg and a daypack per person. On our hikes out of Merzouga and Zagora it is possible to store additional luggage for the duration of the hike.

We will send you a detailed packing list after we receive your deposit.

The prices listed with the itineraries are based on a larger group size. For smaller and very big groups contact us to inquire about the price per person.

Prices for extras like riding camel, single supplement, etc. depend on the itinerary and will vary accordingly.
